The Manikin was originally part of the collective play Unmute, produced by Linbus Work at the 2024 Toronto Fringe Festival. It is now being developed into a standalone 45-minute short play. The piece centers on a violent confrontation between two Chinese international students who are in the same theatre club, grappling with questions of race, the political aspects of theatre, and who holds the right to speak.
